Oregon currently has no site for overnight civil immigration detention but there have been credible reports that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is trying to change that. 

Beginning in the fall of 2025, news outlets began reporting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement was looking into locations across the Oregon coast, where there are several U.S. Coast Guard facilities, and in particular at the Newport Municipal Airport in Newport. Little is still known about ICE's plans as it has shielded any and all information from the public and elected officials. That's why Innovation Law Lab filed multiple Freedom of Information Act requests seeking transparency on an expedited basis. After months without a single responsive record, we filed suit.
