Case Details
Petitioner R-J-S-V- is a father and an Oregonian who came to the United States to seek protection from persecution and torture. In October 2025, he was arrested by DHS not because of anything particular about him, but rather because DHS sought to meet detention quotas. Only after the fact did DHS try to justify R-J-S-V-‘s detention, and even then, their processes were woefully deficient and deprived R-J-S-V- of his rights under the law.
Now, R-J-S-V- has been detained for more than eight months. The Government is holding him in prolonged detention without a legitimate reason to do so and without the process he is due. He is suing because his continued detention is both unreasonable and unlawful.
