Innovation Law Lab (Law Lab) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating humanity over fear. Equal parts lawyers, engineers, and organizers, Innovation Law Lab leverages advocacy, technology and law to fight for immigrant and refugee justice. By bringing technology to the fight for justice, Innovation Law Lab empowers advocates to scale their impact and provide effective representation to immigrants in detention and in hostile judicial jurisdictions across the country so that every claim that should win, does win, everywhere, every time.
Reporting to the Operations Director and serving as an integral member of the Innovation Law Lab team, the Administrative Specialist engages in a variety of administrative duties and tasks including managing mail processing and office mailing, maintaining office templates, coordinating meetings, assisting with translations, resolving payment and donation questions, fielding simple inquiries from lawlab subscribers, assisting with testing of platform features, and other administrative tasks as necessary. The Administrative Specialist provides support to other programs as well, including the Oregon Worker Relief Fund.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The following are the essential job duties and responsibilities of the Administrative Specialist.
- Mailing processing;
- Data entry;
- Coordinate meetings and conferences;
- Resolve simple helpdesk inquiries;
- Order remote office supplies;
- Update internal communication tools, as needed.
- Provide programmatic support to the Oregon Worker Relief Fund and other projects.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The following are the minimum levels required to successfully perform the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities.
- One or more years of experience working as an Administrative Specialist, Assistant, or similar position.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team in a fast-paced, high intensity environment.
- Must consistently demonstrate teamwork and positive day-to-day work relationships and interactions with staff, stakeholders, government officials, and others.
Environment: The Administrative Specialist would regularly work out of the Law Lab office in Portland, with the option to work remotely. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be an entirely remote position until further notice. The position interacts constantly with staff, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
Benefits and Salary:: Salary will be set at an hourly rate commensurate with experience and skills with a base pay of at least $18-22/hour. We offer an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, ability to enroll in Law Lab’s 401(k) plan, paid time off and public transportation subsidy. Regular business hours are Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm.
