San Francisco, CA Feb 28, 2020 ー Late Friday night, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit granted the Trump Administration’s emergency motion to stay the blockbuster order declaring the “Remain in Mexico” policy, officially known as “Migrant Protection Protocols” (MPP), illegal. “We are disappointed that this cruel and inhumane policy is still in effect,” said Stephen Manning, executive director of Innovation Law Lab. “As the appeals court found, the Remain in Mexico policy is illegal and puts vulnerable people including children in life threatening situations. We will continue to battle the policy and provide representation to asylum seekers impacted by Remain in Mexico until the policy is finally and permanently enjoined.”
