Elected Oregonians hold a great responsibility in the stewardship of democracy and our collective prosperity. You were each chosen to represent constituents, make laws, and oversee the executive, all of which involve debating policy, approving budgets, investigating government, helping constituents resolve issues, and ensuring accountability and effective governance. 

Immigrant and refugee Oregonians are our neighbors and friends, and make Oregon strong. Yet the current administration’s “Arrest First, Ask Questions Later” policy has led to countless warrantless, and often violent, arrests of our community members. Innovation Law Lab has prepared this toolkit to empower electeds who support immigrants and refugees to help them protect themselves in the fight ahead, provide tangible resources to share with constituents, and identify key actions legislators can take to protect immigrant Oregonians.
