Emma Gill.

Emma is an OWR Attorney Fellow in Innovation Law Lab's Portland Office. Emma studied Spanish and International Studies at Virginia Tech. During that time, she volunteered as a translator and ESL tutor, and worked for the university's library to translate and publish COVID-19 resources in Spanish amidst the early stages of the pandemic. Emma's pursuit of a career as an immigration attorney brought her to Oregon, where she received her J.D., cum laude, from Willamette University College of Law. As a law student, she worked as an intern in both the private and nonprofit sector, providing support to attorneys working on removal defense cases and representing unaccompanied children. The highlight of Emma's law school career was her three semesters in Willamette's Immigration Clinic, where she and other student attorneys worked with asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, and U Visa applicants under their professors' supervision.
