ICE’s goal is to arrest and deport undocumented immigrants going about their daily lives — working, commuting, and spending time at home with family. Their goal is to terrorize communities and tear families apart. ICE uses racial profiling, illegal bait and switch policies in asylum cases, and intimidation tactics that instill fear and confusion in our communities. Unconstitutional ICE actions often take place early in the morning, when ICE can snatch people as they are waking up, getting ready to go to work, or taking their children to school. ICE agents have barricaded cars and entire neighborhoods with their vehicles, approached people with rifles pointed, worn masks and forcibly taken people into unmarked vehicles.
Unconstitutional and unlawful ICE intrusions are taking place everywhere in Oregon — far from the privacy of the lawyer’s office. Disappearances, detentions, and expedited removals can happen anywhere: ICE offices, the courts, Oregon’s fields & vineyards, the public schools, workplaces and construction sites. No where is immune from unlawful ICE actions.
